One of the most holy events in India, Maha Kumbh, happens every 12 calendar years. After 2013, Maha Kumbh Mela is scheduled in 2025 at Prayagraj, at the sacred confluence of three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. The event is set to commence from January 13 and continue till February 26th, 2025. The announcement of the event has obviously garnered a lot of attention among the devotees. The Government is taking extra efforts to make the month and half event more interesting besides the religious context. There would be an array of cultural events ranging from solo acts to dance performances to Ram Leelas to be performed by artists across the world. Many celebrated artists like Hema Malini, Ashutosh Rana would also be a part of the extravaganza.
Apart from that, the government is also adding another attraction for devotees by creating and setting up a cultural village called ‘Kalagram’. The mock-up village will showcase the rich, spiritual and cultural heritage of the country. Honorable Minister of Culture & Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, told the press that over 10 acres land has been allocated for this mock-up village near Nagvasuki. The performances will be held at Ganga Pandal which has the capacity for over 10,000 audience. Apart from the main stage, there would be three stage pandals with a 4,000 audience capacity each at Jhunsi, Nagvasuki and Areil. The Kalagram village would have an amphi theatre of 1,000, an apt stage for the emerging Sangeet Natak Akademi awardees, National School of Drama productions, and Zonal Cultural Centre to showcase their artistry.
