It's Lit time!
The world of literature has been buzzing in India for centuries and produced some most celebrated names in the fraternity. In the past few decades, the country has witnessed a boom in upscale literature festivals too. Below are the few upcoming literature festivals that should interest lit lovers! We just got done with the vibrant Mumbai Lit Fest and gearing up for a few more in the pink of winters!
Jaipur Literature Festival: Founded in 2006, the Jaipur literature fest is considered to be the biggest literature festival. Hosted in the capital of Rajasthan, it has featured some key literary figures across the globe. The scope of the event goes beyond just literature and comprises history, politics, and social sciences. The festival is multilingual and includes literary luminaries from English to Indian regional languages too. The 17th edition is scheduled from January 30th-February 3rd 2025 and among the first few names announced are André Aciman, Anirudh Kanisetti, Anna Funder, Ashwani Kumar, Cauvery Madhavan among many others. It will in total feature 300 speakers in five different venues.

Bangalore Literature Festival: The 15th Bangalore Literature Festival is a two day event-14th & 15th December 2024 in the capital city.What makes the festival special is that apart from celebrating the established literaries, the event also is welcoming to fresh talent. It will open two pitching event-LitMart and ScreenLit. Litmart would be for aspiring authors to pitch their book idea to a panel and ScreenLit would be for aspiring screenwriters.

Kerala Literature Fest: The festival that is touted to be Asia’s largest literature festival is now in its eight year and is to be hosted in India’s first UNESCO city of Literature, Kozhikode. This year it has invited France as the Guest country, with many noted French authors and speakers participating.
