Music concerts and engagement proposals
It's quite common in the West for love confessions to happen at Basketball or Soccer games. With the pre-tipped camera crew turning the cameras on the couple and capturing the moment for the lifetime. However, proposals during concerts are again picking up traction too! One of the first ones in 2024 to catch everyone’s attention was when a couple proposed to each other during 14 time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift’s Era Tour in Singapore in the month of March. The special part of the proposal was that both the ‘Swifties’ confessed their love to each other by handing out rings as opposed to just the man going on knees. The video was widely circulated and loved especially by the Gen-Z.
The trend seems to have rubbed on Indians too. Earlier in October, when the Queen of Melody Shreya Ghoshal was performing in the City of Joy, a boy named Rishi declared, “Shreya, you are my second love”. Making the singer pause and ask in amusement, “Who is the first?” and Rishi replied, “Antara.” Continuing he expressed his desire to propose to her midway the concert. The singer graciously invited them to the stage and insisted that the proposal be done in the right manner as everyone is witnessing it. The love confession was completed with Shreya singing “Tujh Mein Rab dikhta hai” from Rab ne bana di Jodi.
And the latest to the addition is the one at Diljit Dosanjh’s Pune concert as a part of Dil-LUMINATI tour. A man expressed his love to his lady by presenting a ring. The singer sang a romantic song in Punjabi and the crowd went berserk.
